Wrinkles

Over the years the effects of frowning, squinting and the movement from our facial expressions can cause creases to form. These lines are formed as the skin become less elastic, causing the line to remain whether or not the muscle is moving and contracting or relaxed.

As the skin ages, the ability of the cells to divide and replenish themselves slows down, this causes the skin to become thin. Formation of wrinkles as we get older occurs as natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decrease with age. The skin’s ability to retain moisture and temperature levels due to our environment diminishes. The sweat and oil-secreting glands degenerate, depriving the skin of their protective natural skin oils. As a consequence, the skin becomes dry and fragile. Skin loses its elasticity forming wrinkles. In addition, the ability of the skin to repair itself diminishes with aging. Frown lines (lines between the eyebrows) and crow’s feet (lines that radiate from the corners of the eyes) appear because of persistent small muscle contractions. Habitual facial expressions also form characteristic lines and contribute to the formation of wrinkles, such as smiling and frowning.
