Flu Clinic

Don’t want to risk the flu this season?
The best way to reduce the risk of suffering from the flu is through vaccination.
One dose of influenza vaccine will protect you for a whole winter’s flu season
against the 3 most prevalent flu strains, including swine flu (H1N1).

Main Street Medical and Skin Center can offer you a no fuss flu vaccination.
At $25 per person, it’s a small price to pay,
compared with time off work or not being able to take care of your family.
How serious is the flu?
The flu virus can affect people differently. It can really knock you around and
place you in bed for many days and may mean that you are unable to care for
your family or attend work.

Certain people are at greater risk for serious complications if they get the flu.
This includes older people, young children, pregnant women and people with
certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), and
persons who live in facilities like nursing homes.

Is the flu vaccination safe?
Some people think the flu shot gives you a dose of the flu. This is not true as
the vaccine does not contain any live viruses.

Who gets the flu?
Anyone can get the flu. Being fit and healthy does not stop you from getting
it. Flu is a highly contagious disease that spreads via sneezing, coughing,
even through touch. It can take 1-3 days for symptoms to appear, so you can
unknowingly infect others.

Do I need a prescription?
At Main Street Medical and Skin Center our qualified practice nurse can vaccinate you or your
family in the clinic and if required arrange a prescription from our doctors and have them filled at our on site pharmacy.
