General Information

At Main Street Medical, we strive to provide high quality care to all our patients.

Our Diabetes Education and Management Service is lead by Charlie Dirito, who has
specialist qualifications in the education and management of Diabetes.

Charlie has full Diabetes qualifications and is recognised as a Credentialed Diabetes
Educator.

Diabetes Care Plan

Charlie works closely with his patients to create a personalised care plan, tailored to
meet their individual and specific needs. However, there are elements to Diabetes
Care which are common to all patients.

Blood Glucose Monitoring

Free Blood Glucose meters are available.Conditions apply.

Having to check your Blood Sugar levels can be a daunting task. Our team
understands this and all patients will be given expert instruction on how to operate
these devices. We work to ensure each patient has a full understanding of how to
check their blood sugar levels.

Nutrition

Knowing the right foods to eat when you have Diabetes can be confusing, with so
many fad diets out there, it can be a minefield trying to navigate your way to a
healthy diet. Our Diabetes team can aid your understanding of this, by providing
general dietary advice , to help set you on the right path.

Where further, specialist, dietician input is required, our team can facilitate a
referral to Dietetic services.

Referral

Medicare rebates are available to eligible patients with a Medicare EPC referral.

A full referral including a Medical Health summary is appreciated.

Fees

All patients with an EPC referral will be bulk billed.

For patients without an EPC referral

  • Concession Card Holders- $35 out of pocket fee
  • Non-Concession Card holders- $40 out of pocket fee.

Holders of private health insurance, may be eligible for a rebate. Please contact
your individual health insurance provider.
